Community Guidelines

Most of Pockets is just you and your collections. When you choose to share a Pocket or build one with someone else, these guidelines keep that shared space kind and safe.

The idea

Pockets is a place to collect the things that make you, you, and to show them to people you choose. It works best when everyone treats other people’s collections, and the people themselves, with respect. You don’t have to like what someone collects. You do have to leave them and their space alone.

What’s welcome

  • Collections of any kind, size, or subject, from rare finds to everyday objects.
  • Sharing a Pocket as a link, or on your public profile, when you want to.
  • Inviting people to collaborate and add their own Things to a shared Pocket.
  • Honest descriptions, notes, and Memories about the things you collect.

What’s not allowed

When you share or collaborate, don’t use Pockets to post or send:

  • Content that is illegal, or that promotes illegal acts.
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting of a specific person.
  • Hate or slurs against people based on who they are.
  • Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the authorities.
  • Pornographic or gratuitously violent or graphic content.
  • Content that impersonates someone, or misrepresents who you are.
  • Someone else’s private information shared without their consent.
  • Spam, scams, or bulk collection of other people’s content.
  • Anything that infringes another person’s copyright or other rights.

These rules apply to anything a viewer or collaborator can see: Pocket and Thing names, descriptions, Memories, images, profiles, and links.

Reporting

If you come across a shared Pocket or a profile that breaks these guidelines, report it. Use the Report link on the shared Pocket page or the profile. In the app, a report is filed directly. On the web today, Report opens a prefilled email to our team, because the public pages have no signed-in session.

We read and review every report. The person you report is never told who filed it. For copyright specifically, see Copyright and content reporting.

Blocking

In the Pockets app, you can block another person, which severs shared access between you. Blocking needs you to be signed in, so it happens in the app rather than on the public web pages. If someone is bothering you and you can’t resolve it by blocking, email us and we’ll help.

What happens next

When something breaks these guidelines, we may remove or restrict access to the content, turn off sharing for a Pocket, or, for serious or repeated violations, suspend or terminate an account. We aim to match the response to what happened, and to act faster on anything that puts someone at risk.

If we get it wrong

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, reply to us and explain why. We’ll take another look. The full terms that govern removals and appeals are in the Terms of Use.
